Can’t Decide Where To Shop? Check Out These Pros And Cons

Are you ready to start shopping for your prom dress but have no idea where to start? You’ve probably heard a lot of people are buying theirs online. And then there are those heading off to store after store to find their dream dress. How do you decide which avenue is best? Take a look at the pros and cons of each.

Online Shopping

Online shopping has become a massive trend and this means the benefits of looking online for Quinceanera dresses from Peaches Boutique, for example, outweigh the disadvantages.

The Pros of Online Shopping

  1. Huge selection – you can have any and all styles at your fingertips when you shop online. You can browse a multitude of websites until you find what you want. You can also enjoy access to loads of interesting products and handmade items.
  2. Prices – by cutting out the middle man, online stores can ship straight from the manufacturer to your home; this means lower prices and even bigger discounts.
  3. Convenience – online stores are available 24/7. And there’s no dress code. If you like, you can stay in your warm bed on a Sunday morning and choose your perfect prom dress.

The Cons of Online Shopping

  1. Not a quick purchase – if you need your dress or some accessories right now, buying online isn’t viable. It normally takes a couple of days to receive the items.
  2. Purchase quality – since you can’t physically hold a product and give it a proper check over before buying it, there’s always the risk of something being completely different to what you were hoping for.
  3. Returns or exchanges – if you want to exchange or return the item, you have to wait for it to be sent back to the online store before they send you a new one.

In-Store Shopping

There is an amazing range of prom dresses available at our Chicago superstore. There are still some great advantages to shopping in a brick and mortar store.

The Pros of Shopping In-Store

  1. Customer service – you get to talk to an actual person, ask for recommendations and it’s easy to return or exchange products.
  2. No shipping fees – you cut out the middle (delivery) man and walk away with your item the minute you paid for it.
  3. Security – you know or get a feel of the store you are shopping in and will realize there’s no funny business going on.
  4. You can try stuff on – one of the main reasons dresses are returned or exchanged is due to the fit. Being able to try dresses on removes the potential for fitting problems.

The Cons of Shopping In-Store

  1. Accessibility – stores run the risk of running out of your size, particularly if they have sales on. Online stores can check a wide database to find the perfect size.
  2. Irritants – aggressive sales people, traffic, nowhere to park – these are all elements that can make for an irritating shopping experience. Just think about Black Friday shopping and you’ll realize the hassle!
  3. Increased prices – the overheads of a physical store like employee wages, salaries, and other elements mean prices of products continue to be on the increase. You could always find something you like in a store and look for it online.

Both shopping in-store and online have their advantages and disadvantages. It all comes down to inconvenience and personal preference. The good news is that many stores today have both a brick and mortar shop and an online store.

  5. I think this was an excellent post comparing the two. I do like to see the quality of an item and feel the material before I buy it, which is why I prefer to purchase more expensive items in person. However, online shopping can be cheaper and more convenient.

  14. Great pros and cons. Online shopping can be great. I love buying my jewelry online and for some stores I know exactly what size to order online. If I am not sure about sizing then I go to the actual store. :)

  15. These are all great points. I am just starting to get into online shopping more due to the convenience, but I really enjoy seeing the quality of a piece first hand before purchasing. As for prom dresses, there are tons of affordable dresses online compared to stores. I can see why that would be a huge selling point. Thanks for sharing. Xo, Ellese
