This time of year is always a reality check for me. I ask myself the same questions every year.
"Did I complete last year's resolutions?"
"Wait..... what were last years?"
"I must have written them down somewhere..."
"Should I even attempt to make resolutions for this year?"
"Will I actually complete them this time?"
Completing them is not actually the goal here. The goal here is to be a better version of YOU!
Coming up with resolutions this year was surprisingly difficult. Feeling stuck? Get inspired. Go on Pinterest. Read other people's New Year's Resolutions. Buy cute notebooks and pens like my cute & adorable Kate Spade Polka Dot Spiral Notebook or one from Kikki K! I can't write without coffee so I searched for the cutest dessert shop I could find in Singapore and found Cake Spade. Every Kate Spade and cake lover's dream. (aka me)
Sadly I didn't order any cake because I'm lactose intolerant and every cake they had contained dairy :(
Sometimes you gotta dress the part in order to be the person that you want to become.
MY RESOLUTIONS FOR 2017:
1. Be able to fit into my favorite Burberry dress.
I have this gorgeous dress from Burberry that I never got to wear because I was a size too big when I got it. After 2 years of college, working a full time job, traveling, and stress the "one size too big" became a million sizes too big. I am determined to get the body that I know I deserve. This one is a stretch but I am wiling to change bad habits and start new ones to get there.
2. Go back to school.
I dropped out of college a year ago due to medical reasons and moving to a different country. I've had the chance to travel to 10 different countries but I am ready to tackle my Computer Science degree once again. This is probably the toughest decision for me because I'm now in Singapore so my options are very limited, I literally forgot almost everything I have learned so far, and in the past college made me really really depressed. I want to pursue my degree in Computer Science but it's just the first step that is so hard for me to take again. I found an all 100% online university that I can start at any time. I will do more research before I commit to this decision.
3. Get to 15 thousand subscribers on YouTube.
At the current time of writing this blog post I have 6500 subscribers. This is a huge step for me but I know I can do it because I have some exciting content and ideas coming out this year. I am so excited to film and edit them for you all.
4. Cook at home at least 3 times a week.
I get so frustrated with cooking sometimes because I lack experience. I am hoping that by challenging myself like this that I will become a better cook, discover new recipes, save money, and eat healthier. Plus, this makes a fun date idea at least 3 times a week with my boyfriend. It doesn't really matter what we're doing, as long as we are spending quality time together.
5. Set a budget and stick to it.
It is SO easy to blow $100 on things you really don't need. Those kinda cute shoes you found on sale that you'll probably never wear? Waste of money and not in the budget. Want those expensive $200 RayBans? Well if it fits in the budget then knock yourself out. I find that sticking to a budget teaches you more about self-discipline. Which I desperately need. For example, instead of taking a lot of little last minute planned vacations, I'd rather save all of that money for trip to somewhere that I've always wanted to go like Europe! James and I are hoping to go to Europe in 2017 but that takes budgeting and planning in advance.
