4 Ways To Explore The MacRitchie Reservoir TreeTop Walk in Singapore

by - 9:59 AM

MacRitchie is a beautiful place to go and breath of fresh air away from the city of Singapore. Located in the central region of Singapore, it is a surprisingly large nature reserve with many different places to explore and get lost in. At times it is not very easy to navigate in here but that's part of the fun anyways!

Here is a list of 4 ways to explore the MacRitchie Reservoir Treetop Walk in Singapore

1. Go monkey spotting around the forests

There are so many of them running around the forests. This is after all their home and their playground. You can often find them lurking at you from the tree branches. Monkeys love to steal things so make sure watch your belongings or you might get your things snatched from you.

2. Walk across the TreeTop Walk

See the jungle and the reservoir from up above the tree tops of the forest. The walk up is quite steep and there are many stairs to climb to get here. But this area is the best spot in the entire nature reservoir.

3. Let the real tour guides show you around

Normally I wouldn't say to trust a monkey but it's a fun adventure to take the path less beaten. Monkeys are more intelligent than they seem and sometimes they can be friendly.

4. Stop and appreciate what is around you

Sometimes we can forget what the real Singapore climate is like being in the concrete jungle. Appreciate all of the life that is around you. The large trees, the animals that live in them, the large body of water, and the fresh(er) air.

Getting to MacRitchie Reservoir:

There are a few ways to get there. Option #1 is to take a car, taxi, or uber to Venus Drive Car Park and walk inside the nature reservoir. Or take the bus to either of the Flame Tree Park bus stops.

What to Bring:

Lots and lots and lots of bug repellent. You'll thank me later for this. Bring an umbrella or rain jacket just in case in decides to start pouring rain out of nowhere like it almost did when I was there. But if any signs of rain show at all then I recommend not going since it is very dangerous to be there during a storm. Make sure to also bring snacks and water because you will be here for at least a few hours.

Good to Know:

-Although the monkeys are really cute, DO NOT FEED THEM
-Don't go alone
-Check the weather beforehand
-Do not go in from the main entrance because it will only take you longer

My Overall Experience:

I really enjoyed immersing myself in this beautiful nature reserve. Although The TreeTop Walk was quite challenging and time consuming to get to, it was my most favorite part of the whole journey. It was very hot and humid but the greenery around me was a refreshing change. I recommend going before 10am next time just so that it's slightly cooler.
