PLACES YOU NEED TO TRAVEL TO BEFORE 2017 IS OVER:

This year is going to be over before you know it. I don't know about you, but September to December passes by in the blink of an eye because of everything happening during these months. Back to school (even if you aren't in school), Autumn festivities, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years keep my calendar so busy.

Even with all of the craziness, this time of year is an exciting time to travel because of the change in weather in some parts of the world, the various and unique festivals to immerse your soul in, and even a time to let loose and paaartay!

I have compiled a list of places said by the experts on where you NEED to travel to before 2017 is over!

"Yi (or Yee) Peng Festival is a religious festival held every year in Chiang Mai to show respect for Buddha. The date of the festival usually coincides with Loi Krathong in which candles are placed on floating flowers and go down the river.

When the Sky Lanterns are released it’s said to end a person’s bad luck or misfortune. Especially if it disappears from view before the fire goes out!" said Helene. Read her blog post here to find out her warnings and things to look out for before you go.

This year the Yi Peng Lantern Festival, Chiang Mai is held to coincide with Loy Krathong (probable dates November 2-5, 2017)

Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany

"It has a long tradition dating back to October 12th, 1810. On that day that King Ludwig I married Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. They invited the citizens of Munich to celebrate with them. It must have been some party as the tradition has carried on for more than 200 years! For the first hundred years the festival was an agricultural show. Over time carnival booths and rides were added. A parade was also added. This is definitely worth seeing. 8000 people, mostly Bavarians, walk in traditional costumes through the streets of Munich to the Theresienwiese, where the event is held." said Laurel from Monkeys and Mountains. Read her entire blog post here dedicated to what you need to know before going to your very first Oktoberfest in Germany.

The 184th Munich Oktoberfest this year will be held between September 16th to October 3rd. Hurry and get your plane tickets now!

"The Northeast of the United States is without question one of the most beautiful, picturesque and peaceful corners of the country. This region is better known as New England, a collection of six states – Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont – that all have a distinctly different character. For those of you who aren’t familiar with those states, here’s a brief overview and introduction." said Bram of Yonder Bound. Find out more on his blog post here on what there is to do and see in each state of the New England area of the United States.

The best time to visit is when the season has just begun in either late September or Early October. Because this is when the colors are the most vibrant and not all of the leaves have fallen yet.

Avoid Tourist Season in Paris, France

"With the peak tourist season winding down, air and hotel fares take a dip, but the weather is just as nice, if not nicer, than during the summer months. The laid-back, summer-vacation ambiance is still lingering around the city, but most Parisians are back in town, creating an interesting mix of fun and authenticity." said Courtney from Trip Savvy. Read her persuasive blog post here on why September is the best time of year to visit The City of Lights.

It's no wonder this city is rated #1 out of all tourist destinations in the world. Avoid the crowds and tourists by visiting during a time like September. Plus, maybe the slightly cooler weather is another excuse to sip on coffee and croissants at every Parisian cafe you can find.

"The coldest winter I have ever spent is a summer in San Francisco." - Mark Twain
San Francisco has this season known as an Indian Summer to the locals which means it stays warm during the autumn months. Although the summertime here can be a bit chilly, it seems to warm up quite a bit in September to October.

Not sure what to do during a short 2 day trip to San Francisco? I have this full bulletproof guide here that will help you make the most of your stay.

Take a Discounted Cruise to the Caribbean Islands

(Photo Cred: The Urben Life)"This past November (2016) my husband and I took a Royal Caribbean cruise to Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel. Right off the bat, there’s no denying that the Royal Caribbean ships are jaw-dropping with their expansive size and plethora of on-board activities. We noticed that there were fewer children compared to Carnival cruises during the summer, we figured this was probably due to the time of year." said Jenna from The Urben Life.

Go Christmas Market Hopping Throughout Europe

"Of course, I couldn’t come all the way over to the other side of the world without experiencing one of the best parts of the holiday season- European Christmas Markets! So, with the limited time I had to spare before Christmas, I set out on a mission to visit as many Christmas Markets as I possibly could before December 25th.

Given this little trip was a last minute decision, I wanted to make my Christmas expedition as spontaneous as possible whilst fitting in as many markets as I could!" said Nicola from Polkadot Passport. She compares all of the different Christmas markets that she went to in her blog post which you can read here, giving you a good idea which Christmas market sounds the best to you.

If you had to pick only one of these places in this list which would it be? Tell me in the comments down below! Can you believe that 2018 is just around the corner?! *gulp* All I can think about is how many things there are to do and things to accomplish before this year is over! I do have a lot of traveling lined up for the rest of the year thankfully with Europe in just a few weeks, a couple of places in Asia, and even going home to visit my family in America. Even if traveling right now to you seems out of reach, just remember that with hard work + consistency... ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

Happy & safe travels!
