Even though many will consider Singapore to be a concrete jungle, packed with technology, luxurious shops and creations of the modern world, it’s also the home of some of the most stunning scenery in the entire world. Singapore is known as the Garden City and for a good reason.

As the flowers bloom so does the city, offering visitors and locals a sight for sore eyes. Take a look at some of the native plants of Singapore that you can encounter throughout Singapore that are real show stoppers, but we warn you. There are hundreds if not thousands of gorgeous species yet to discover throughout the various parks and gardens of Singapore, but we’re hoping to give you a little insight into just how glorious the flora of Singapore is.

I picked out The Ayla flowers because I wanted something bright and sunny for the summertime. I love sunflowers because they are fun and make a statement. It is hard to find good quality sunflowers in Singapore but A Better Florist does a pristine job at finding the best quality possible for my beautiful bouquet.

  • Lipstick Plant

This beautiful plant got its name from the bright, red blooms that resemble a lipstick. It is commonly sold as a potted plant, and it usually grows climbing its way up tree trunks and branches. 
  • River Tarrena
This beautiful low-branching tree can last in the full sun or semi-shade, and when it’s the right season the entire tree is covered with beautiful blooms. It is one of the most beautiful native species that can be found throughout nature reserves and parks of Singapore. 
  • Orchids
Orchids are the national flowers of Singapore, and there are hundreds of different species of Orchids you can encounter walking through Singapore’s beautiful parks and gardens. The National Orchid Garden, within Singapore’s Botanic Gardens is an Orchid paradise. 
  • Singapore Ginger Flower
Considered as one of the most precious and unique flower species in Singapore, this rare flower is impossible not to notice. You can take a peek at them strolling through Singapore’s Botanic Garden and it’s no stranger to florists either, who are starting to include Singapore’s beloved flower species in their bouquets. 
  • Bougainvillea
This beautiful bloom can be seen all around Singapore streets, and comes in various colours, from white and orange to magenta and deep red. It’s striking appearance and gives bursts of colour to grey streets of Singapore reminding its guests of the beauty Singapore has to offer besides the busy streets and concrete buildings.
